The administration reported Sunday it will trigger the two-year procedure of leaving the London Fisheries Tradition, which permits vessels from France, Belgium, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands to angle in the vicinity of six and 12 nautical miles off the U.K. coastline.
England marked the tradition before it joined the EU and would be bound by its terms in the wake of leaving the alliance unless it begins to pull back from the bargain now. Condition Secretary Michael Gove said the move will lead "to a more aggressive, gainful and supportable industry for the entire of the U.K."
